Augura Space
The French deeptech combining artificial intelligence and space physics to anticipate space weather — and, per the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the only European player in this field.
A deeptech born from space research
Founded in July 2025 out of Inria Startup Studio (February 2025 – January 2026), and since incubated at Agoranov and ESA BIC Nord France and supported by the 50 Partners Tech fund, Augura Space was born from a simple observation: satellite operators, airlines, power grid operators and defense stakeholders have no reliable tool to diagnose and anticipate the effect of solar storms on their assets.
François Ginisty, cofounder and CEO, completed his PhD in space physics at CNES and IES Montpellier, on the evolution of Earth's space radiation environment, followed by a postdoc at the Laboratoire de Physique des Plasmas at École Polytechnique. He is a graduate of ENS Paris-Saclay. Sébastien Farges, Founder & CTO, brings more than twenty years of engineering leadership, including at Indexima and Kamoov; he is a graduate of École Centrale de Lyon. Together, they place Augura Space at the crossroads of academic research, the space and defense ecosystem, and product.
Our mission is to anticipate space weather through artificial intelligence, combining deep learning with the fusion of heliophysical data from multiple sources, to give Europe a sovereign diagnostic capability and to free our strategic infrastructure from foreign solutions.
On orbital radiation forecasting, our models now produce roughly half as many false negatives as the published state of the art — that is, half as many missed high-risk events. This is the result that underpins our scientific credibility with academic and industry partners.
This ambition sits at the heart of Europe's space sovereignty strategy, alongside leading institutions that have supported Augura Space since its creation.
Backed by major players in European space
Augura Space is backed by CNES and ESA, both of which are also customers, and supported by the 50 Partners Tech fund. The company received the Grand Prix Souveraineté at the 2025 i-PhD awards, granted by Bpifrance and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, which identifies it as the only European player in its field.
